Adjustment
When a joint is moving sub-optimally, it can be secondary to a plethora of musculoskeletal conditions. One approach to helping the joint move is by manipulating or adjusting that segment. This act is a controlled and rapid pressure through the joint. The goal is to reestablish proper movement so range of motion is restored and pain is diminished.
Mobilization
Similar to an adjustment, a mobilization takes a joint through various degrees of its natural ranges of motion. The difference is that the extra pressure which is administered at the end range of an adjustment, is not applied during a mobilization. The goal is the same: obtaining a healthy range of motino and decreasing pain.
Soft Tissue Therapy
With extensive anatomical knowledge, a chiropractor knows the attachments of muscles and ligaments and is able, through soft tissue therapy, apply pressure/trigger points to hypertonic ("tight") musculature and redirect it along the course of its fibers. This encourages blood supply to the area to promote healing and of course, reduce tension and pain.
Taping
Dr. Greco is certified in Fascial Movement Taping®, which is a strategic way of promoting movement and stability to an injury. This innovative approach to care is very helpful to patients who require an extended therapeutic effect outside the office.
Nutrition
Another facet of care to optimize a patient's health is to analyze their nutrition and provide modifications as needed to increase their quality of life and decrease risk of developing ailments.
